These innovative tubes contain a halon substitute (HFC-236fa) gas that is automatically released in the event of a fire.
They are designed for very easy fitting in the engine compartment, above the engine. The tube can be simply connected to the engine lid or hatch by the included fitting kit.
This 3 metre length is designed for engine compartments of up to 0.75 cubic metre, typically a small engine compartment.
Uses include cars (front and rear engined), motorhomes, caravanettes (including rear-engined VWs), commercial lorries and vans (with small engine compartments), and boats.
For commercial use, a key advantage is that they require no annual maintenance, thus saving on inspection fees. However, you should of course always get this confirmed by your insurance company.
How it works – The BlazeCut system operates automatically independent of any power supply or other triggering mechanisms. It simply detects the higher temperatures caused by a fire. When the temperature in the protected enclosure rises to the critical level, the detection tube melts down at the point where the affecting temperature is the highest. This melting of the tube creates a hole releasing the entire extinguishing agent stored in the tube onto the source of the fire.
